1st time I've heard of Onstar doing something useful

A stolen truck was recovered and a man was arrested after an OnStar system disabled the vehicle during a carjacking east of Los Angeles Saturday night, authorities said.

OnStar was activated in the truck and deputies followed it onto the southbound 57 Freeway for an eight-minute pursuit. OnStar disabled the vehicle, slowing it down to 5 mph.

racing engine shop broken into, about 3/4s of a million dollars worth of engines, parts, and tools stolen. A team of thieves knew where and what they were going for

Three burglars broke into Buck Racing Engines in King North Carolina around 11 Thursday night, June 19th

First, they cut a hole in a back fence, used spray paint to black out a camera in the back of the business, then cut a second hole in the back of the building, which one of them used to get inside.

“They pretty much knew everything, where places were in the shop and everything,” owner Charlie Buck said.

The surveillance video then shows the person who came inside through the hole going to the back door and using what looks like a crowbar to pry it open, allowing a second burglar to get inside. The two then walked by a second surveillance camera, one of them using a flashlight to obstruct its view.

Buck says the crooks made off with eight engines, worth up to $100 thousand each. They also took other parts; a total Buck estimates to be somewhere between $500 to $800 thousand.

Stolen 26 foot Airstream alert, 1962 Overlander stolen from Prairrie Village Kansas, just at the end of a 6 year restoration

Stolen Saturday June 13th, from a kitchen countertop installation company's parking lot, it was that close to being finished with 6 years of overhaul and restoration.

If you think you spot it, look for an unpolished strip along the top of the trailer, then call police.
Tell them Catie Ebert of Kansas is hoping that someone finds the trailer that's been in her family for 3 generations.

Stolen in a parking lot, engine ripped out destroying the surrounding chassis/body, and making the car beyond repairing for competitive racing, the Penske Sunoco Lola t70 Mk 3b

The Penske team had won the Daytona 24 six weeks earlier in a T70 and hoped to win Sebring but it was not to be when the rear suspension succumbed to the rough Sebring circuit.

 However, both Chevrolet and sponsor Sunoco wanted Penske to go to Le Mans so the car was put on the transporter for the trip to the garages in Philadelphia. Unfortunately the crew driving the truck stopped in Ormond Beach, FL for some rest and relaxation (bar hopping) and when they awoke the next day the car was gone.

The shell of the car was found a day later but the engine and most of the other equipment were gone. The thieves had literally cut the engine from the frame ruining the car and ruining any chances of taking the car to Le Mans.
